About Candlewood Acupuncture

Candlewood Acupuncture is a patient‑centered clinic three minutes from central New Fairfield. Our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized acupuncture care that helps patients reduce pain, relieve stress, and restore balance so the body can heal naturally.

Needles & discomfort

Many patients worry about pain or have a fear of needles. Acupuncture should not be painful; any uncomfortable sensations are brief and typically resolved quickly. The needles are extremely thin — comparable in diameter to a human hair — and most people feel little to no pain on insertion.

Our approach

We offer personalized treatment plans based on a thorough intake and assessment. Treatments combine traditional acupuncture techniques with gentle adjunct therapies as appropriate, focusing on symptom relief and long‑term wellness.

Acupuncture is a safe, standalone medical treatment and can also be used alongside your current medical care.

About the practitioner

I am a Board-Certified Diplomate in Acupuncture through the NCBAHM with a Bachelor’s of Science and Masters of Acupuncture degree from Pacific College of Health Sciences. I trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, advanced training and certification in Facial Rejuvenation, and Trigger Point Therapy, also known as dry needling.  Additional qualifications in the health and wellness field include being a licensed massage therapist, and certified nutrition coach.

After many years working as an IT project manager, I left the corporate world to pursue acupuncture training which gives me a balanced approach to real world challenges in maintaining health and wellness.  I believe there is a ripple effect for each of us and our interactions with the people in our lives and communities and how we feel during those interactions can make a difference.  When we feel better we have an increased capacity for positive impact on the people around us; it’s easier to listen and have patience for others.

I welcome a diverse clientele, including athletes, construction workers, pregnant people, stroke-recovery patients, individuals in pre- and post-surgery rehab, teens, and seniors with conditions that are acute or chronic.  I treat each patient where they are on their health journey, acknowledging that every individual’s experience is unique. Be sure to check the What We Treat section for more details of the types of conditions appropriate for acupuncture treatment.

It’s important to me that everyone looking into acupuncture feels comfortable and acupuncture feels approachable.  Acupuncture is effective for everybody, and I will work with every patient to be sure they are comfortable and are informed about the process of receiving acupuncture.

Some personal details and a little more about me, outside of the clinic, I’m married to my husband Gonzalo.  We joined the New Fairfield community in 2008, moving from New York city. But, I’m a country girl at heart  ride through the Connecticut countryside taking in the landscape, winding roads, lakes and beauty we have here in our corner of New England has always made me happy and more grounded.  I’ve volunteered on town boards and enjoy giving my time to support the many aspects of our community.  I enjoy making meals at home with local and fresh ingredients, and sewing, particularly bag making.  I maintain balance using meditation, Qigong and time on Candlewood Lake.
